In effect, Chinese President Xi Jinping will get a new Cabinet as all members apart from him and Premier Li Keqiang are slated to step down adhering to the conventional retirement age of 68. That said, there has been much talk about how Xi’s leadership has tightened the government’s grip on every aspect of Chinese people’s lives. The purging of 1 million Chinese officials for corruption at various levels and the focus on austerity have admittedly made many people unhappy in China. Hence, many Chinese officials had got accustomed to using their authority for personal profit. From the Chinese perspective, by then Xi’s efforts towards injecting discipline into the Chinese system should have borne fruit.
