A report issued by the Damietta Port Authority (DPA) has showed a decline in the number of docked vessels at the port by 16% during February 2017, compared to February 2016. The volume of goods traded at the port increased by 5.8% in February 2017, compared to the same period of 2016. The DPA revealed that the number of vessels received by the port during 2016 increased by 8% compared to 2015, where the number increased from 2,357 vessels in 2015 to 2,562 vessels during 2016. The report attributed the apparent increase to the increased number of dry bulk carriers by 46%. The exported amounts of fertiliser have increased from 1m tonnes in 2015 to 2.1m tonnes during 2016, an increase of 110%.
