Share TweetBy Mario CasayuranSenator Loren Legarda on Thursday urged the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to follow environmental laws, in particular declaring war on garbage. The MMDA and the mayors must declare war on garbage by making sure that only 30 percent of wastes go to landfill areas and the bulk buried in compost pits or sold as recycled materials. The lady senator also urged the MMDA to install closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) at dark alleys. He said he and Legarda would shift environmental-related budgets from other departments to MMDA when its budget is debated on the Senate session hall.
