The decision of allowing the public to hold New Year festivals and competitions will be taken during the next week, the Head of the National Operations Center for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Gen. Shavendra Silva said today. He said that the decision will be taken considering the prevailing situation in the country. “The recommendations on the conducting of new year related festivals have been sent to the Director General of Health Services. A final decision will be taken after referring those recommendations to the technical committee,” he said. It also stressed that a strategic plan should be implemented across the country during the festive season in order to prevent another possible outbreak of the COVID-19.
