Photo: SuppliedNorth Canterbury elite female middleweight boxer Debs Bean has earned a shot at a New Zealand title. After just 12 weeks training, Debs had her first fight in Motueka against a strong experienced boxer and lost on a split decision. The fight still annoys Debs, says Bill, especially being unable to get a rematch. She is on a seven-fight winning streak, has won the Central North Island championship title, having to fight twice in the same day to win, and the Canterbury title in only the second round. On October 19 she will be on the undercard at the Bowan Morgan world title fight, along with five of Bill's other good boxers from the North Canterbury Boxing Club.
