At least six people were killed in an Amazon warehouse in Illinois after a direct hit by a tornado caused a major part of the building to collapse on Friday night, officials said. Forty-five people were confirmed to have left the building, James Whiteford, Edwardsville, Illinois fire chief, told a news conference Saturday. The tornado caused a wall the size of a warehouse football field to collapse, along with the roof above. “About half of it is gone, it’s gone,” Captain Mayfield said of the 400,000-square-foot building. “Emergency crews received the initial call at 8:38 p.m., and arrived a few minutes later, Captain Mayfield said, with about 100 rescuers on the scene shortly after the building collapsed.
