Share TweetBy Francis WakefieldThe military today said the death toll in military operations against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao has already reached 44 with 26 wounded. Lt. Col. Gerry Besana, the Civil Military Operations (CMO) head of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said the death toll on the two-day fighting was a result of ground and air strike operations to flush out the enemy. Basena said at present, their primary concern is the plight of IDPs or internally displaced persons who were affected by the two-day fighting. Basena said the almost one-week fighting displaced about 1,800 families.
