At least 23 people died in Garut district after floodwaters from overflowing rivers inundated neighbourhoods early Wednesday, said Sutopo Nugroho, spokesman for the national disaster management agency.Hundreds of residents were also displaced.In Sumedang district, three people died and another went missing after mudslides buried their homes on Tuesday, he said.Floods and landslides are common in Indonesia during the rainy season, which usually starts in October.- DPA
