"We believe that the accident occurred due to the negligence of Turna Nishita’s driver,” said Additional Director General of Railways Mia Jahan. "After nine bogeys of the train crossed over into the loop line, Turna Nishita hit the 10th bogey. Soon after the accident, the railway authorities started a rescue operation with the help of the locals. Currently, there are three bodies at Kasba Upazila Health Complex, two at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital and one at Cumilla Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, the district administration has formed a three-member committee headed by Additional District Magistrate Mitu Morium to investigate the cause of the accident.
