Death row inmate's clemency appeal stresses Christian faith


Bill Lee's Christian faith Wednesday, requesting clemency for a prisoner they say was redeemed by Jesus. Don Johnson's clemency petition includes a plea from Cynthia Vaughn, the daughter of the woman Johnson was convicted of killing. In the petition, Vaughn asks to meet with Lee and share her story in person. She said the clemency petition is Johnson's last chance to avoid execution because he doesn't want to pursue any further legal challenges. In 2010, another Tennessee death row inmate with a similar story of redemption and forgiveness had her sentence commuted by then-Gov.
