Death of experienced Wellington lift technician subject of inquestSUPPLIED A two-day inquest into the death of Wellington lift technician Brendon Scheib begins on Tuesday. The Government's safety watchdog ruled the death of an experienced Wellington lift technician in a workplace accident was not his employer's fault. AMY JACKMAN/STUFF A cordon was put in place at the T&G Building, otherwise known as the Harcourts Building, on Grey St, Wellington, after Scheib's death. WorkSafe found Scheib either thought he had engaged the pit switch, or knocked it accidentally, causing the lift to restart. Last year, union E tū started working with lift companies to improve the rules around lift safety.
