Joseph Deacy, 21, from St Albans in England, had been visiting friends in Ireland. He was described by GAA teammates as having a “bright future.”He was found outside a house in Gortnasillagh, Swinford, with apparent head injuries on Saturday. He was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital and then to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Sunday evening. Gardaí opened a murder investigation after a post-mortem by Marie Cassidy, the state pathologist.
