The final season of Game of Thrones is almost here. If understanding the European Middle Ages can help us understand Game of Thrones (and vice-versa), then we might understand this final season as Westeros' apocalypse. In Game of Thrones, that's not so clear. The opening scene of the trailer has Arya fleeing in terror, seemingly from the Night King, who's inside Winterfell's walls. If the army of the dead wins, that might be the lesson of the final season of Game of Thrones.
