If you’re trying to conceive, it might be a good idea to pay attention to your oral care routine. A common bacterium associated with gum disease may delay conception in young women, warns a new study. Periodontal (gum) disease is an inflammatory reaction to a bacterial infection below the gum line. Statistical analysis showed that the finding was independent of other risk factors contributing to conception, such as age, current smoking, socioeconomic status, bacterial vaginosis, previous deliveries, or clinical periodontal disease.
