Toronto FC has reached an agreement in principle with Belgian club Racing Genk for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo, a source has told The Toronto Sun. The deal reportedly will allow the attacking midfielder to report to Toronto after Genk’s final regular-season game on March 17. Pozuelo, 27, has seven goals in 32 total appearances for Genk this season and is the team captain. His first game for the Reds should be on March 29 when TFC plays host to New York City FC at BMO Field. Toronto president Bill Manning and GM Ali Curtis travelled to Belgium last week to discus Pozuelo’s transfer with Genk officials and talks continued on Monday.
