OKOTOKS — The bats came alive early for the Okotoks Dawgs (6-0) who gunned down the Brooks Bombers (1-6) in an opening-day rematch 18-7 Tuesday night at Seaman Stadium. “I got here five minutes before the game,” Dawgs bench boss Mitch Schmidt comments after the game while pointing up to the scoreboard. The story of the game, however, was the explosion the Dawgs had on offence, despite being down on the board first. The Brooks side attempted to claw back into the game, but at 15-4, the Dawgs tallied another three-run inning during the bottom of the fifth. Dawgs Academy prospects Mike Clapperton and Richardo Sanchez combined for a total 4-for-9 at the plate with four RBI.
