It is, however, Ottawa, and Ottawa isn’t perfect. Abdi’s death is connected to so many big and complicated problems and this situation is so very delicate. As important as the SIU’s efforts are, Abdi’s death isn’t a singular event. True, Ottawa isn’t Baltimore or Baton Rouge or Ferguson. Does the mayor agree with Matt Skof of the Ottawa Police Association that race played no role in the officers’ handling of Abdi?
