David Parker takes 'hardass' approach to labour shortage during Covid

Trade and Export Growth Minister David Parker has taken a ‘’hardass’’ approach to concerns the Government isn’t doing enough to bring overseas workers into New Zealand to fill labour shortage gaps during Covid-19. Kavinda Herath/Stuff Minister for Trade and Export Growth, David Parker, was in Invercargill on Tuesday morning. Parker was also asked about the aquaculture industry by Rex Chapman, member of the Southland aquaculture working group. Southland aquaculture working group chairman Mark O’Connor later said the model would have to be worked out in conjunction with the Government, but it was only one element of the process. The group’s concern was there didn’t seem to be an urgency from the Government to take the aquaculture strategy forward.
