David Luiz explained how a chat with Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus convinced him that Pablo Mari would be a success at Arsenal. Mari joined the Gunners in January from Flamengo, initially on loan but with an option to buy, and received high praise from his former boss. Luiz said: "He's a great player, he did amazing in Brazil under Jorge Jesus, a coach I know very well, he's my friend and one of the top coaches in the world. He told me to welcome him in the best way because Pablo is ready to play." Mari was the first signing of Mikel Arteta's reign and adds competition for places in Luiz's own left sided centre-back position, but the Brazilian doesn't feel threatened by Mari's arrival.
