The more specific issue of public sector pay is that it has fallen in real terms. The more specific issue here is the public sector pay cap. I simply can’t see an argument for a public sector pay rise or the lifting of that cap here. Public sector pay has increased relative to private sector since 2000. At which point we can entirely agree with David Cameron here, it wouldn't be fair to lift that pay cap, would it?
