Chicago Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez remains prominently in the mix for the Nationals’ manager job. Martinez was in Washington on Thursday, and the Nationals interviewed former Red Sox manager John Farrell on Friday. But, if not transparent, their managerial search this time around seems more pointed and focused than two years ago. They called Martinez, Long, and Farrell, the most prominent and obvious candidates on the market. As was the case two years ago, the course of a managerial search can change rapidly, particularly given the dogged nature of Lerner-led negotiations.
