Datuk charged with 27-year-old offence - Nation


GEORGE TOWN: A titled businessman claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to using a forged document as the will of the tycoon and philanthropist N. Arumugam Pillai 27 years ago. Datuk N. Vasantharajan (pic) was charged with fraudulently using a document as the will of Arumugam, which he knew or had reason to believe was forged, at the George Town Court Complex in Lebuh Light on June 26, 1990. Deputy public prosecutor Lim Saw Sim proposed bail at RM50,000. Vasantharajan’s counsels Dev Kumaraendran and Datuk Gobal Krishnan said they have no objections and agreed to the proposed bail without conditions. Sessions Court judge Irwan Suainbon allowed bail at RM50,000 with a surety.
