It’s a guitar and a sound that’s associated with Gatton and a slew of other Washington guitar players, including the late Roy Buchanan. It’s a sound that’s celebrated in the new documentary “Anacostia Delta: The Legacy of DCs TeleMasters,” directed by Bryan Reichhardt. In their marrow is a music that’s a seamless amalgam of country, bluegrass, jazz and early rock-and-roll. Gatton and Buchanan may never have achieved Eric Clapton-level fame among the general public, but they inspired a generation of guitarists. AD“Anacostia Delta” is a great primer on Gatton, who took his life in 1994 at the age of 49.
