A man reported driving dangerously around the Atawhai and Hira areas of Nelson was eventually arrested on Wednesday afternoon. A 30-year-old man’s erratic driving display ended with his arrest but not before crashing into a tree north of Nelson. A police spokeswoman said police initially received a report of a car driving erratically in the Hira area, about 4.55pm. The vehicle eventually stopped near Atawhai Crescent where a 30-year-old man was located at a nearby address soon after. The incident occurred around 7.30pm near the State Highway 60 intersection with Craigieburn Rd, south of Takaka when a sole vehicle came off the road.
