The situation which has severally been brought to the attention of the city authorities; the Urban Roads Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, is yet to be attended to. Since the construction of the Asafo Interchange, in 2007, during the erstwhile Kufuor administration, it has not seen any major repairs, although some traders close to the Interchange say some parts of the road started weakening soon after it was commenced for use. A regular user of the Asafo Interchange, who also owns a shop not too far from the road said his major fear is how to prevent any casualty from now till repair works will be carried out. The Interchange has also become a den of thugs and armed robbers who attack unsuspecting people who use the interchange on foot at night.
