Until the last week I’d given Auckland Transport as much attention as I have to the writings of Jane Austen. There was a time when Auckland’s transport affairs were run by the aforementioned Auckland Regional Transport Authority, and that in turn was run by the Auckland Regional Council, before Rodney Hide euthanised it. David White/Stuff Auckland’s new mayor, Wayne Brown, has vowed to fix the city, but he has to contend with some entrenched people and attitudes. The complaint alluded to by Kedgely was that the structure of Auckland Transport, now commonly called AT, made it unaccountable. Chris McKeen/Stuff Eke Panuku chairperson Paul Majurey has so far resisted new Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown’s hints to resign.
