Perhaps unusual when compared to a lot of smokers, Earnhardt says he didn't start smoking until he was an adult. "It started out as a small habit I didn't think was serious, but became a full-blown habit over those 15 years," Earnhardt added. In overcoming his smoking habit, Earnhardt said that he wanted to get involved in any way that he could to help others, especially those in the NASCAR fan community. Earnhardt lets on that while it wasn't necessarily a closely guarded secret, his smoking habit wasn't something he advertised.
