Efforts to begin clearing the camps of the protesters who remain onsite despite the repeated requests by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe were once again met with violence on Sunday. "Standing Rock Environmental Protection Agency and Dakota Sanitation are working together to try and advert an environmental tragedy," Tom Doering, Morton County Emergency Manager, was quoted as saying. The striking aspect of the reporting around these cleanup efforts is that all the work is being done by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the County and other local officials. Despite the fact that they have managed to raise millions of dollars from contributors all over the country to support their protest effort, protest organizers, whose people created all the mess, do not appear to be making any effort to assist in remediating the site. The same is also true of the various conflict groups who have supported and raised money from the protest effort.
