On Saturday evening, long-time Liberal organizer and former party president Andrew Wilkinson was named the new leader of the B.C. Wilkinson beat out former Surrey Mayor and MP Dianne Watts, taking 53.11 per cent of the vote, compared to Watts’ 46.89 per cent. RelatedWatts had promised to bring reform to the party, while Wilkinson pushed his existing relationships with current MLAs. “That is the heritage we have to build on as a party,” said Wilkinson, to a ballroom of Liberal supporters at the Wall Centre in Vancouver. “That is where we came from and that is where we have to honour and respect.”
