RPC has hired litigator Lindsay Warwick as a partner in its media defence practice. Warwick qualified as a solicitor at RPC in 2007, and left the firm to work in-house at Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) in 2011. She spent nearly13 years as deputy head of editorial legal services at ANL, which is known for its publications including the Daily Mail, MailOnline, Mail on Sunday, i, and the Metro. Warwick has handled claims brought by high-profile figures such as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Duke of Sussex v Associated Newspapers and Duchess of Sussex v Associated Newspapers, as well as Melania Trump, who sued ALN over claims in the Daily Mail that her modelling career had involved “services beyond simply modelling” in Melania Trump v Associated Newspapers Ltd. She also worked on the case of Lawrence & Ors v Associated Newspapers, in which the claimants alleged ALN publications collected their data through unlawful methods.
