The allegations surfaced on the morning of October 20, the day the first-year admission test for the university’s D Unit, also known as “Gha” Unit, took place. Seven hours before the test was due to begin, a number of journalists in Dhaka said they had received emails with the copy of the test question paper. It was confirmed only after the exam, when we compared the leaked questions with the test question paper,” said Asifur Rahman, DU correspondent of Bangla daily Prothom Alo, one of the few journalists who first received the leaked question paper. The D Unit admission test was taken by 98,054 applicants, of whom some 10,264 students passed. Thirteen test takers in the A Unit admission test and 14 in D Unit test were detained with digital devices for cheating, and two students were detained during the B Unit test for taking the test as proxy.
