DSWD: Almost P1.5B worth of funds, relief on standby for ‘Paeng’

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has now placed about P1.5 billion worth of funds and relief on standby even if typhoon “Paeng” (international name: Trami) was seen to have no direct effect yet to the country. The DWSD said Monday it has around P660 million on standby funds, more than P700 million worth of available food and non-food items, and stockpile of at least 386,400 family food packs amounting to over P130 million ready to be delivered to local government units who might be adversely affected by Paeng. ADVERTISEMENT“We were advised that Typhoon Paeng has no direct effect yet to the Philippines, however, we are urging our countrymen, especially in the northern part of Luzon to stay alert for flooding and landslide,” DSWD Secretary Virginia N. Orogo said in a statement. “We do not want any more harm to our kababayans,” she added.
