The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is considering whether a garda should face criminal charges after being arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in a garda station. In February, the officer was arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault at a Leinster garda station. The woman who made the complaint was not under arrest and was known to the garda. The woman had reported that she was sexually assaulted by the garda in a station in the east of the country late last year. It emerged last month that a quarter of garda suspensions relate to alleged sexual impropriety, including sexual assault and rape.
