Director of public prosecutions Noordin Haji wants all weak cases out of court to maintain confidence in the justice system. The DPP said suspects with cases which do not have sufficient evidence will no longer be arraigned in courts. Haji said cases will be vetted in a pretrial conference between investigators and prosecutors to ensure they merit progress before suspects are arraigned in court. Prosecution decision will be in writing and all cases reviewed upon conclusion for future reference. They must keep records of all matters and ensure court attendance is recorded in sufficient detail on the prosecution file.
