MANILA, Philippines — Reported injuries caused by fireworks has gone up to 288, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday. In its fireworks-related injury surveillance report, DOH said 124 additional cases for fireworks-related injuries were reported since its last update on New Year’s Day with only 164 cases. DOH said the injuries were all due to fireworks, and no stray bullet injuries or firework ingestion cases have been reported. Of the 288 cases, the most number of reported injuries with 143 cases came from the National Capital Region (NCR) followed by Region VI with 29 and Region I with 26. Meanwhile, 172 or 60 percent of the injuries were caused by legal fireworks, 63 of which due to kwitis, and 32 each due to fountain and luces.
