Share TweetBy Aaron RecuencoThe Department of National Defense (DND) is set to procure eight units of mobile treatment units for soldiers who would be wounded in battle. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said the Readily Deployable Forward Treatment Units will also be helpful in the conduct of search and rescue missions in various types of disasters, particularly typhoons and earthquakes. It was the Philippine Army which requested the DND for the procurement of the deployable treatment units to cater to the needs of their wounded personnel. It will be recalled that the deplorable conditions of the wounded soldiers is one of the reasons cited by those who joined the Oakwood mutiny in 2003.
