The by-polls for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor’s office will most likely be held in the third week of February, Election Commission sources say. If the post of a mayor or councillor falls vacant more than 180 days before the end of the tenure, the law stipulates holding by-polls within 90 days to fill the post. Annisul, backed by the ruling Awami League, had won the DNCC election on April 28, 2015.
