CONWAY, S.C. — Jim Garren, the Oklahoma assistant who helped the Sooners to the national title this spring, is taking over the men’s golf program at Coastal Carolina, the former collegiate home to world No. The school announced Garren’s hiring Thursday. He spent the past three seasons at Oklahoma where the Sooners made the NCAA finals each year. He said he was going to work hard to turn the Chanticleers back into a championship-calibre program. The team missed the NCAAs the past two seasons.
