The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday announced the free transport of relief goods from various local government units (LGUs) to areas affected by Typhoon “Tisoy,” particularly the Bicol (Region 5). Together with Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) and Cebu Pacific, Project Tabang Bikol was launched to send relief goods through planes for free. “The DILG serves as your conduit in ensuring that your donations really reach the local government units and the affected communities,” Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said in a statement. He said organizations or people could consolidate the donations into one single container “for easier transport.”Needed relief goods, Año added, are food items such as ready-to-eat food, canned goods, instant noodles, bottled water, hygiene and non-food items such as blankets, toiletries and shelter-repair materials. DILG spokesman and Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya thanked the CAB and Cebu Pacific for helping the people affected by the typhoon.
