MANILA, Philippines — Interior chief Eduardo Año, who tested positive twice for coronavirus, has fully recovered from COVID-19, an official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Tuesday. “The Secretary tested negative for COVID-19 last September 2 and has fully recovered from the disease. We thank the public for your prayers and expressions of support to Secretary Año,” DILG Undersecretary and spokesman Jonathan Malaya said in a statement. ADVERTISEMENTMalaya also revealed that doctors said Año is already “fit to work and reassume duties as head of the agency.”Previously, Malaya said Año, vice-chair of National Task Force on COVID-19 response, tested negative for SARS-CoV-2, causative agent of COVID-19, but is still experiencing symptoms such as cough. The DILG chief first contracted the virus last March 3.
