Safe Driving Day is observed every second Monday of May by virtue of Proclamation No. 28 signed on April 23, 1966, by then President Ferdinand Marcos. According to the proclamation, safe driving habits and the strict enforcement of traffic and motor vehicle laws can reduce unnecessary loss of lives and property resulting from traffic accidents every year.
