(Mislatel) consortium has no choice but to ensure the delivery of its service commitments, the country’s acting Information and Communications Technology chief said. “They lose everything if they don’t deliver,” Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officer-in-charge Eliseo Rio told The Manila Times on Saturday when asked about concerns raised by legislators. The internet speed will be increased to 55 Mbps while national coverage will hit 84.01 percent within five years. “And for the first time in history, not only in the Philippines, but maybe the whole world … a new telco player was required to come up with time-bound commitments, backing it up with a hefty performance bond,” he added. Speaking for Mislatel, spokesman Adel Tamano reiterated that the firm would be partnering with industry players to hasten the deployment of its services.
