DDoS attack takes down major websites in US


A DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack takes place when a group of hackers create a network and jointly send a high volume of requests to a web server. The combined load jams the web servers and prevents real users from accessing the sites. Business Insider, CNN, Imgur, The Guardian, PayPal, Pinterest, and the PlayStation Network websites were also down temporarily. But their capability to take down one of the providers of major websites indicates that they are well-equipped for further, bigger attacks in the future.
