Nawanshahr (Pb), Mar 27 (PTI) Deputy Commissioner Sonali Giri today directed officials concerned to "effectively" curb illegal mining activities in the district. The DC also ordered special checking drives to stop illegal mining of sand and gravel at night. "In the past couple of days, as many as 16 cases of illegal mining have been registered at various police stations in the district," she said. Giri said people should be asked to desist from giving their tractor-trolleys for ferrying sand. She also urged people to inform authorities about any incident of illegal mining.
