KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) has detected some 53 children, who roam the city streets and harass the public, including tourists, for money. Mayor Datuk Nordin Saiman said such children often described as street kids were usually from the Palauh (sea gypsy) community. “If these children do not have documents, they will be handed over to the immigration department,” he said, adding DBKK had rounded up 30 street children last year. The sudden presence of such children in the state capital has once again raised concern among the city folk here. “We urge cooperation from the public and to notify DBKK immediately should they see such street children instead of turning to social media," he said.
