KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) has backed the government’s efforts to manage the global crisis comprehensively, saying this is crucial to protect Malaysia’s economic resilience, public welfare and national resources. In a statement on Monday (April 6), DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the party was briefed on the latest developments in the Middle East conflict and its impact on the global energy market, including the risk of oil supply disruptions to Malaysia after May. “The CEC supports the government’s ongoing efforts to address the global crisis in a comprehensive manner to ensure economic stability and protect the welfare of the people,” he said. Loke said DAP leaders and elected representatives have been instructed to intensify grassroots engagement to raise public awareness about the seriousness of the energy crisis, encouraging prudent energy use and reduced vehicle dependence to help curb fuel demand. Party representatives on the relevant Parliamentary Select Committee have been directed to ensure the amendments are finalised and tabled at the June parliamentary sitting.
