D.C. Police are investigating after a man walked into a hospital Sunday afternoon suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man, who said he was shot at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Southern Avenue Southeast, sustained what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his side, police spokeswoman Rachel Reid said. Officers were investigating a report of shots fired nearby about 12:25 p.m., but it was not immediately known if it was related. The call came from just over a half mile from where the man reported being shot, in the 4200 block of 6th Street Southeast. Police tweeted a detailed description of a possible suspect shortly after the incident occurred, but deleted it about an hour later, citing unclear information in the case.
