Cyclone Shifts Volcanic Ash Toward Bali’s Beaches

JAKARTA, Indonesia—A tropical cyclone was altering the path Tuesday of ash erupting from a volcano in Bali, sending it closer to the resort island’s closed airport and its most popular beaches. Indonesian officials said the cyclone Cempaka, churning the waters off the southern coast of Java hundreds of miles west of Bali, has begun to pull ash from the erupting Mount Agung away from where it had been moving toward open ocean, shifting its path southwest toward the beach areas that draw more than five million tourists annually.
