Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday night assured Tamil Nadu full assistance from the Centre for the damage caused by Ockhi in the southern parts of the state. Chief Minister Edapaddi Palaniswami apprised him of the various relief works going on in "full swing" in seven districts of the state. Cyclone Ockhi, which lashed across the southern peninsula, claimed at least 17 lives in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and disrupted daily life. Palaniswami listed out various steps being taken, besides deputing senior ministers and IAS officials to oversee the relief work, the release added.
