The cyclone was centred about 645km south-southwest of Chittagong port, 575km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 640km south of Mongla Port and 590km south of Payra port till 6am. Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra ports have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal No 2. Cyclonic Storm Kyant will unleash heavy rain and strong winds on areas from western Myanmar to northeast India and Bangladesh this week, said accuweather. The newly formed storm will continue to track westward through Wednesday, moving farther into the open Bay of Bengal but toward eastern India. The worst conditions are expected from Friday into Saturday as the storm approaches the coast of India between Visakhapatnam and Chennai.
